wisdom-tooth

Wisdom Teeth Removal

If you are like most adults, you may have struggled with discomfort relating to your wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are the back set of molars in your mouth, and they are not necessary to having a healthy and attractive smile. In many cases, wisdom teeth come in at odd angles or in spaces not big enough for the tooth which causes crowding. Many times, these results can lead to pain or infection, so early detection of potential problems with general dentistry is important.

If necessary, we can remove your wisdom teeth in a simple outpatient procedure very similar to regular tooth extraction. Recovery time is minimal, and in many cases you will feel only slight pain and discomfort. In cases where the wisdom teeth need to be removed but are still embedded, we will refer you to a qualified oral surgeon.

emergency-dental

Emergency dental care

In the event of a dental emergency, we are here for you. If you are suffering from tooth pain, a fractured tooth, bleeding gums, an abscessed tooth or an infection, give us a call. Our staff will determine a plan of action, and if you need immediate dental treatment, we will get you an appointment as soon as possible. In more severe cases, we may refer you to a local emergency room. We will always do everything we can to help take care of your dental problem as quickly as we can.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you believe you may need emergency dental treatment. We are committed to ensuring the oral health care of our patients. We will work to provide you with priority treatment on short notice. If we can facilitate a same day appointment, we will gladly invite you into the office.

dental-x-ray

Digital x-rays

X-rays are an essential for helping to determine your best path to optimal dental health. We take x-rays of your mouth and jaw as part of every comprehensive appointment. Examining your digital x-rays alongside you allows us to educate you about what’s going on in your mouth – that may be invisible to the naked eye – right there in the room.

Restorative Dental Treatment

dental-restoration

The specialty of restorative dentistry is a specialty concerned with the treatment of teeth damaged by decay or fracture as a result of a specific injury. It includes:

  • Root canal treatment, or what is called endodontic treatment, which occurs as a result of inflammation of the dental tissues located inside the pulp of the tooth.
  • Filling teeth using modern cosmetic fillings that mimic the tooth. Natural in terms of colour, shape and hardness.
  • Covering weak teeth or teeth subject to root canal treatment with Emax or zirconium to preserve the tooth and keep it without fracture.

Endodontics

dental-pulp-treatment-1

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry concerning dental pulp and tissues surrounding the roots of a tooth. “Endo” is the Greek word or “inside” and “odont” is Greek for “tooth.” Endodontic treatment, or root canal treatment, treats the soft pulp tissue inside the tooth. An endodontist is a dentist who specializes in saving teeth.

Endodontists become specialists by completing two or more years of advanced training in endodontics following dental school. They perform routine as well as difficult and very complex endodontic procedures, including root canal treatment, endodontic surgery and special procedures to save teeth after traumatic dental injuries. By focusing their practice on specific procedures such as root canal treatment, surgery and trauma, endodontists are experts at managing a wide array of complex endodontic problems efficiently. Advanced technologies and specialized techniques used by endodontists give them a very accurate view of the inside of the tooth and allow them to treat the tooth quickly and comfortably.

By saving your tooth, an endodontist can help you keep your natural smile!

Periodontics

periodontics

Periodontists often treat more problematic periodontal cases, such as those with severe gum disease or a complex medical history. Periodontists offer a wide range of treatments, such as scaling and root planing (in which the infected surface of the root is cleaned) or root surface debridement (in which damaged tissue is removed). They can also treat patients with severe gum problems using a range of surgical procedures. In addition, periodontists are specially trained in the placement, maintenance, and repair of dental implants.

The periodontist examines the gums, checks to see if there is any gum line recession, assesses how the teeth fit together when biting, and checks the teeth to see if any are loose. The periodontist will also take a small measuring instrument called a probe and place it between the teeth and gums to determine the depth of those spaces, known as periodontal pockets; this helps the periodontist assess the health of the gums. X-rays may also be taken to observe the health of the bone below the gum line.

Who Should See A Periodontist?

Some patients’ periodontal needs can be managed by the general dentist. However, as more and more patients are exhibiting signs of periodontal disease, coupled with research that suggests a relationship between periodontal disease and other chronic diseases of aging, periodontal treatment may necessitate a greater understanding and increased level of expertise by a trained specialist. Patients who present with moderate or severe levels of periodontal disease, or patients with more complex cases, will be best managed by a partnership between the dentist and periodontist.

Orthodontics

orthodontics

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. It can also focus on modifying facial growth, known as dentofacial orthopedics.

Teeth orthodontic with the latest methods either by using transparent, metallic or internal orthodontic.

Many types of orthodontic fixtures can be used to help realign teeth, retrain mouth muscles and impact jaw growth. Orthodontia works by placing a continual, gentle pressure on the teeth and jaws, encouraging slow movement and lasting results. Because orthodontia isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, the nature of your teeth and mouth structure will determine which orthodontic solution we recommend for you.

Braces:

Braces are the most common and well-known form of orthodontia, and they usually consist of brackets, wires and bands. Brackets are installed on each tooth, and the wires that run between them are gradually tightened to put just enough tension on the teeth to encourage their movement into the right position. Braces are usually adjusted monthly, and despite the age-old “metal mouth” jokes, braces are now much smaller, lighter and less visible than ever before. They even come in a clear variety for adults who seek a more natural look.

Oral & Maxillofacial surgery

Wisdom Teeth

Many people’s jaws are too small to comfortably allow for the presence of wisdom teeth. When inadequate space prevents these teeth from erupting, they are referred to as impacted wisdom teeth, which means they will not attain a normal position. To avoid complications it is best to remove crowded or unerupted wisdom teeth.

tooth-extraction

Tooth Extractions

A tooth may need to be extracted for several reasons including decay, gum disease, trauma, infection, or dental crowding. Sometimes teeth are removed prior to orthodontic treatment to decrease crowding and allow room for proper alignment.

damaged-canines

Impacted Canines

Canine teeth play an important role in our mouths. Not only are these strong teeth important for chewing, but these teeth are critical in the establishment of your bite. Due to their position in the dental arch, these teeth are critical in establishing the proper alignment of the rest of your teeth and serve to guide your bite during proper chewing.

dental-prosthetic

Pre-prosthetic Surgery

This type of oral and maxillofacial surgery consists of procedures necessary to prepare your jaw for complete or partial dentures. Oftentimes these procedures can be done at the same time as the extraction of teeth, but may at times be done at a later time if required. Following these procedures, a healing period may be required prior to fabrication of your prosthesis.

oral-pathology

Oral Pathology

A visit to your oral surgeon is recommended when you notice a change in the lining of your mouth. Normally this lining is smooth and pink, so if you develop red or white patches, a sore that fails to heal, or a strange lump or growth, it is best to have it examined. Other symptoms to have checked are a chronic sore throat or hoarseness, and any difficulty in chewing or swallowing.

corrective-jaw-surgery

Corrective Jaw Surgery

This procedure is recommended when the jaws don’t align properly, either because of natural growth, environmental influences, or trauma to the face. Corrective jaw surgery will help save teeth from abnormal wear, improve facial appearance, and allow for proper alignment so you can bite and chew comfortably. This may also be useful in addressing sleep apnea and breathing problems, TMJ, speech problems, or a protruding jaw.

Prosthodontics

dental-prostheses

At Madina dental Center we offer Full Mouth Rehabilitation, , for patients whose teeth are worn or broken, and/or who have multiple missing teeth.
